Book

It's spring on Kelston Roundhill. Roundhill Barn was unutterably beautiful yesterday for 50 lucky 16 year olds who had a memorable celebration last night. They had bright sunshine, bright moonlight, and showed responsibility beyond their years in clearing up beautifully on Sunday.

A really magical place, the barn is simple and homely inside whilst still being a large practical space. Nestled halfway up the hill the views are stunning, and there are some lovely outdoor seating spots to enjoy the surroundings.

Unfortunately, our 34year old son Daniel, passed away earlier this year. Daniel loved the Barn and surrounding area – it was a place close to his heart. A church funeral would not have been appropriate, and we were fortunate to be able to have his Service at Roundhill Barn. From the off, the help given by the Funeral Directors, and Roundhill personnel was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. The Service was beautifully presented, very relaxed – not rushed in any way. Excellent food was provided by the nearby Bath Cheese Company and as were were able to have the refreshments just outside the Barn it all felt very personal. The panoramic views are wonderful, and because nothing was rushed, we had ample time to reflect and feel connected. We were very grateful to everyone who helped to make this very difficult time bearable. Thank you all.

This August I had a fantastic fortieth birthday weekend at the barn, with friends and family camping and staying nearby. We saw a congress of hot air balloons make their slow progress, had several beautiful sunsets, indoor wood fires and outdoors a fire pit in the courtyard, with the nights candlelight indoors, and outdoors the lights in the sky and from the land below. It would have been worth it for twice the price and half the time. And as many free blackberries as anyone felt fit to pick and eat. Three thumbs up!
